Project Aims

By gathering a large dataset through citizen science input the two main project aims are to:

  1. Determine optimal Lure model, call type and settings to attract any given target species.

  2. Generate specific lure use guidance for individual U.K. bat species.

Understanding how to use lures effectively to catch target species will potentially reduce survey effort required whilst minimising by-catch, and therefore disturbance, to non-target species.

The database will remain freely accessible online and any guidance produced will be made available free of charge on this website through downloadable documents.
